This year, Chinese New Year falls on 22nd January 2024. The parade is planned for 12th February and gets underway at 1pm and the party will last for several hours, bringing large crowds out onto the streets of NYC to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit.
I don't think many people need much persuasion to go to New York
and if you are looking to celebrate Chinese New Year then NYC is the
place to be. Not only can you see some spectacular Chinese New Year
celebrations, but you can also get out there experience New York. It's
a win win!
New York knows how to throw a party and for Chinese New Year you
can marvel at elaborate floats, dragon dances, traditional performances,
martial art demonstrations, eat great food from the vendors and in the
hundreds of Chinese restaurants and enjoy the street party vibe created
on this special day.
The big Chinese New Year Parade,
which will be held in Chinatown on Sunday 12th February and will take you through Mott &
Canal to Chatham Square on to East Broadway towards the Manhattan Bridge,
and ending on Eldridge and Forsyth Streets towards Grand Street next
to Sara D. Roosevelt Park. You can see a map of the full parade route

Restaurants in New York can sometimes be hard to book, when it comes
to Chinese New Year this will make it even more important to book your
table in advance, have a look at a few of the restaurants you might

There are some traffic cams around Chinatown where you may catch some of the action, but it is likely some of the local news networks will send reporters down to cover the parade and report back, so some online live stream coverage is likely during the parade - we'll post any links here as we find them.
