Head to Bratislava, Slovakia's picturesque capital city, for your new years eve celebrations this year and immerse yourself in this beautiful city with fairy tale castles, medieval towers and history that reaches back centuries.
Take a walk through Bratislava's Old Town, with cobbled stone walkways, random statues (most famously “Man at work” – Cumil), shops bars and restaurants, it's the hub of the cities bustling tourist industry.
Stroll alongside the river Danube and take in some glorious views of either Bratislava Castle or the city on the other side and if you have a head for heights, get some great views over the city from the UFO Bridge Observation deck (Most SNP). You'll see why it's called the UFO bridge!
During December the city becomes a stunning festive hub, with Christmas lights and decorations. They have beautiful traditional Christmas Markets, one being Hlavne Namestie (Main Square), this is fantastic if you're looking for a good photo opportunity as you can climb the City Hall tower for a birds eye view of the market as well as the castle in the background.
The biggest market is at Hviezdoslav's Square, with many festive stalls all with the back drop of the National Theatre. See some traditional stalls and entertainment at the market place on Mileticova street. Well let's be honest,there's markets and festive delights all over the city during December.
New Years Eve in Bratislava is an amazing evening, with the Old Town offering celebrations throughout the day and well into the early morning. Many of the main Squares have live entertainment with bands, dancers and performers so make a beeline for the main square, Hlavne namestie and grab some mulled wine and enjoy the shows!
Head to the river bank closer to midnight to watch the magnificent fireworks over the Danube and Bratislava Castle.
A great place to get a good view is the bridge Stary most, where large crowds tend to gather, so it's advisable to allow yourself plenty of time to secure a good vantage point.
The city has many private events, masquerade balls, black tie events,
and the bars and restaurants are packed come new year, so make your
reservations quickly to make sure you get in.

Doesn't appear to be any working live webcams for Bratislava, which is a shame as it means your only way to watch the new years eve fireworks live is to be there in person.
