Chattanooga on new years eve offers a wide range of parties and family friendly activities to help you welcome the new year in style, with a great many of the local bars, hotels and restaurants hosting special new years eve parties and events to cater for pretty much any taste or budget.

There is also always the chance of a new year river cruise on the famous Tennessee River that runs right through Chattanooga.

This fabulous and welcoming Tennessee city may not have a large scale municipal fireworks display but there is still plenty to keep you occupied. Ice on the Landing

There may not be the large scale outdoor event with fireworks seen in many larger cities, but many people do still gravitate to downtown Chattanooga on new years eve, where the Ice on the Landing outdoor skating rink at the Glenn Miller Outdoor Gardens at the Chattanooga Choo Choo at 1400 Market Street hold their new years eve Late Skate, with free souvenir photos and a cider toast at midnight.

New Year River Cruise

If you do decide to stay in Chattanooga for new years eve then a popular option is to take to the river for the annual Southern Belle Riverboat's New Years on the River Cruise, which includes entertainment from live DJs, an excellent traditional southern style dinner, plus of course plenty of drinks and dancing.

New Years Dinner Train

If you like the idea of a historic new year dining experience on the rails then it's well worth checking out the New Years Dinner Train on the Tennessee Valley Rail Road.

The restored 1920s style dining car departs from Grand Junction Station for a fabulous dining experience with a specially prepared 3 course menu. You can book once tickets are released here.

Creative Discovery Museum Cheers to the New Year

There is also a very popular new years eve celebration for kids at the Chattanooga Creative Discovery Museum, sometimes held on the 30th December (tbc for this year), where they are hold a Cheers to the New Year party for kids and families. With creation stations where you can make New Year's noise makers and painting fireworks and a countdown at 7.45pm with bubble wrap fireworks!
