Should you happen to be spending New Years Eve in Fresno then there are many top parties and celebrations to choose from to mark the occasion, as well as plenty for you to get out and see.

Visit the Forestiere Underground Gardens (that's right, underground Gardens!) This is the underground home of Baldassare Forestiere which showcases his Sicilian heritage in its beautiful vaults (likened to ancient catacombs), labyrinth style passageways, all with a variety of vines, trees and shrubs.

You may want to partake in a little retail therapy during your vacation, Fashion Fair Mall and also River Park are going to be great places to shop till you drop. Once you've tired yourself out, you can grab a bite to eat in one of the many restaurants or go see a movie at the cinema.

Fresno has some lovely parks to stroll through like Woodward Regional Park or the Shinzen Friendship Garden and for wine lovers out there, there are some fabulous wineries to visit and do a spot of tasting, try out Moravia Wines or Lo Mac Winery as a start!

If you are looking for some cultural activities, then Fresno has a few galleries and museums that might pique your interest, look out Arte Americas, showcasing Fresno's Latino art and for architecture fans, the Meux Home Museum will be for you as you explore this Victorian home inside and out.

Most of the New Year Celebrations in Fresno are held indoors at hotels, casinos, restaurants and clubs.

You can normally find masquerade parties and more intimate events such as The Standard's New Years Eve party which has its balloon drop and champagne toast at midnight (this particular venue sells out very quickly, so get your tickets fast as soon as they are released).

Hmong International New Year Festival

Fresno is home to the annual Hmong International New Year Festival at Granite Park Sports Complex (the largest Hmong New Year Celebration in the US) from 29th December to 1st January, 8am - 4pm more details to follow.
