New Years Eve in Huntington Beach promises a great night, with top parties and celebrations taking place, and while you are there don't miss out on some of the incredible activities on offer in this awesome beachside city.

Immerse yourself in beach life and take a stroll out on Huntington Beach Pier to watch the surfers ride the waves and marvel at the beautiful sunset.

Keep yourself in Downtown Huntington Beach for the relaxed vibe of the cafes, restaurants and bars and every Tuesday between 5pm and 9pm there is the Surf City Nights Street Fair and Farmers Market. Peruse the stalls, enjoy the entertainment and just kick back and relax.

Take to the water with kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, surfing, sailing and, if you are feeling like an old romantic, you can take a sunset gondola ride on the Huntington Harbour Canals.

For a quirky afternoon out and a little shopping, head to Old World Village, where you can wander the cobbled streets and peruse the shops and galleries. Pop into a salon for a massage or other spa treatments, enjoy a coffee and bite to eat in coffee shops and cafes and buy some souvenirs and handicrafts in some of the speciality shops.

There is also the Bella Terra Mall to pacify the inner shopping beast, with great boutiques and lots of fantastic restaurants, this has a real luxurious feel to it with lush gardens and fountains.

Many of the big hotels hold annual events that get booked up pretty quickly, including the Hyatt Regency, who normally hold their New Years Eve party, Concert on the Shore, great entertainment along with a champagne toast at midnight.

Main Street tends to be a hub of activity, with lots of bars and restaurants to choose from. Give Perqs a visit for the Redneck Rodeo or Baja Sharkeez for some NYE celebrations.

There is also usually a great night to be had down at Montage Laguna Beach, with dinner, live music, dancing and midnight toast, so check that out too.

Polar Plunge

Another popular local tradition for the new year, on January 1st get yourself down to the pier for the Polar Plunge at noon (if you want to participate, you'll need to register).
