Johannesburg in December is really quite fantastic and you will have your work cut out for you trying to fit everything in. Here in Joburg, they certainly know how to celebrate new years eve, so seeing in 2024 will be quite the night!

If you are in this great city, then just get out there and explore! Take a tour around the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory. This is where Nelson Mandela had his last office and holds exhibitions from his life throughout the year. You must make a reservation before visiting (Admission is free).

Get some amazing views from the Top of Africa, Carlton Centre. This is the highest rooftop in Africa and has viewing platforms for an amazing panoramic experience.

For those who are used to jumping on and off buses, then Johannesburg has the Red Bus Tour that will take you around the city's landmarks and places of interest, including the Apartheid Museum, The Zone, Constitution Hill, Military Museum, Gold Reef City, The Origins Centre at WITS and quite a few more stops!

Seek out Hell's Kitchen in Melville for a 1920 New York Vibe. With live music at the weekend, this is a great place to grab a drink or a bite to eat!

Every Saturday you'll find the Neighbourgoods Market in Gauteng, just off Juta Street. This market has an outstanding selection of foods, crafts and live music and is well worth a visit.

New Years Eve Fireworks

For some firework action, you can usually head along to Mary Fitzgerald Square, Newtown where there is normally a free annual family event with an eclectic mix of music, dancing and entertainment where you can celebrate all the way through to the early hours of New Years Day! Nothing has been announced as yet for this year, so keep checking back.

Parties & Events

The bars, clubs and restaurants of Johannesburg will have special events planned for NYE, so make your reservations, purchase your tickets and have a great night! Check out places like One Up - The Hip Hop and RNB Lounge, Living Room and Madison Avenue.
