The London New Years Day parade, commonly abbreviated to just LNYDP, takes place on 1st January 2024. Watched by a large global audience via live online stream as well as the many thousands watching in person along the parade route, which has yet to be announced, but looks likely to still be different from past years.
The parade has been taking place on the 1st January through the city streets of
London in various guises since 1987, and has expanded over the years
to it's current status where it is claimed to be the largest new year
parade anywhere in the world, a bold claim sure to be hotly contested
by Philadelphia with their
Mummers Parade and the Tournament of Roses
Rose Parade in Pasadena, California.
For those in London
at this time of year it is likely many will be nursing heavy heads from
the London new years eve parties
the night before, so an early start for the new years day parade
represents an excuse to get out of bed to get the new year started in
style. Annual attendance at the parade is in fact estimated at 1 million
spectators along the 2 miles of the parade route, a genuinely impressive
number.
The parade is made up of around 10,000 performers along a 2 mile parade route that starts at the Ritz Hotel, progresses to Piccadilly Circus, Regent Street, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Square, Whitehall and ends at Parliament Square.

The parade officially gets underway at 12 noon and usually lasts for around 3 hours, although crowds will continue to linger for some time after the official parade ends.
There is generally excellent coverage of the London new year parade
on TV channels both domestically and abroad, with US citizens in particular
showing an interest in watching, not least because of the many iconic
landmarks passed along the parade route.

Another good viewing option which is often overlooked is to check out
some of the live webcam views in the city. There are several cameras
at key points along the parade route, including in Trafalgar Square,
