Commaful is a site for writers to share short stories, poems, fanfiction, and more. You can learn more on the writer's page.
The winning entry is entitled 2019 Pain and Love, and was written by user oolalaa:
2019 was the year of laughs and joys and fun.
2019 was the year of cries and sobs and pain in my heart.
2019 was the year of warmth and running and sun.
2019 was the year where i felt so apart.
From myself.
From myself. Yet...
From myself. Yet... so near.
There were days where I would have a smile on my face.
There were days where I would have a smile on my face. During class, laughing with my friends.
There were days where I would have a smile on my face. During class, laughing with my friends. But then go home and cry myself to sleep.
There were days where I would have a smile on my face. During class, laughing with my friends. But then go home and cry myself to sleep. Hoping for the day to end.
Coming home from school some days.
Coming home from school some days. There were times where i felt down.
Coming home from school some days. There were times where i felt down. But seeing my sister's glowing face.
Coming home from school some days. There were times where i felt down. But seeing my sister's glowing face. Would erase my deadly frown.
So although 2019 was filled with dips and dives.
So although 2019 was filled with dips and dives. And gloomy days and clear blue skies.
So although 2019 was filled with dips and dives. And gloomy days and clear blue skies. My family and friends helped me thereof.
So although 2019 was filled with dips and dives. And gloomy days and clear blue skies. My family and friends helped me thereof. Back to cherish those I love.
Love,
Love, Ashley
We are also happy to include 2 runners-up, entries that we were also especially impressed with:
new year by chaos_ink
the wind isn't new
neither are the trees
the sky's still a bland blue at 3pm
and the grass in my yard is still dead
so what really changed?
the idea that you can
that's what changed
the thought you could be something you're not
its like after watching fire light the sky
counting down 10 seconds
and seeing a ball drop
you can be a new you
as they say
as they say new year
as they say new year new me
Doing what you love by xxinsomniacxx
You should always do what you love,
If it's painting, singing, reading, cooking,
Things that make you happy are important, as they keep you going.
And if you aren't good at the thing you love,
That doesn't matter,
If you try hard enough, you can get better,
and even if you never get better, You can still have fun,
You should always do what you love,
Unless it is murder...
Congratulations to the winners, and our thanks to everyone who entered - we were really impressed with the standard of writing on show!
