Whistler is a gorgeous winter wonderland resort in British Columbia, Canada. Famed for its alpine skiing and snowboarding, it's a great location that attracts over 2 million tourists every year. Especially when you hear it has 200 marked runs, alpine bowls and glaciers to really get the heart racing.

Your trip to Whistler can be as action packed as you can handle! Take to the skies with a zip line ride, where you fly through the air (600ft up) over the valley floor, try out some backcountry skiing, there are sleigh rides, snowshoeing, ice climbing and even winter bungee jumping, heli skiing and Cat Skiing for the more extreme traveller!

Whistler is a perfect family get away for New Year with festivities that everyone can enjoy.

There is usually family entertainment from 6pm in the village which includes live entertainment, face painting, story telling and lots of fun events along with the kids New Year Countdown at Maury Young Arts Centre, Teenagers (13 - 18) may want to head to Whistler conference centre for the New Year youth dance from 8pm to midnight.

For the grown ups, rest up and relax in the Whistler Olympic Outdoor lounge, or you and the family can make the most of the free skate rental at Whistler Olympic Plaza Skating park where there is also some great entertainment to enjoy.

To enjoy all these festivities you need to purchase your wrist band. You can get them online or just pop into Whistler Visitor Centre, Maury Young Arts Centre or Meadow Park Sports Centre.

(TBC) The big event (FREE), is the Fire & Ice Show at Skier’s Plaza from 11.30pm. This will keep you entertained as you bring in the new year. Witness the resorts best skiers take on the blazing ring of fire jump, marvel at the fire spinners and enjoy the fireworks display. Please check locally for last minute updates

The bars and restaurants will have a plethora of New Years events, so remember to book in advance to make sure you’ve got your ticket or dinner reservation!
